About the Muse
A Teacher's Corner of the Internet
Where lesson plans meet literary love, and Monday mornings feel a little more magical.
The Story Behind the Muse
The Monday Morning Muse was born out of a very specific feeling — the one you get on Sunday night when you're staring at a blank lesson plan and wondering how you're going to make Fitzgerald feel relevant to a room full of sixteen-year-olds at 7:45 in the morning.
I'm a high school English teacher, and like most of us, I came to this profession because I love stories. I love the way a well-placed metaphor can crack something open in a student's mind. I love the dog-eared paperbacks and the marginalia and the debates about whether Gatsby deserved Daisy (he didn't).
But I also know the exhaustion. The endless planning, the grading, the feeling that there's never quite enough time to do the work the way you want to do it. That's why I built this space — to share the resources, ideas, and reflections that have made my classroom feel more alive, and hopefully yours too.
